As small business owners, we all have stories to tell. Think about it. Your best "customer" story. Your "success-of-the-month" story. Your "new product or service" story. Or better yet, your "customer endorsement" story. Why not tell the world when you have great news? Heaven knows there's enough gloomy news to go around. Put your best foot forward by putting your best stories out on your social media pages and your pages. Get your stories out there for others to read! If you need some help writing them, let me know!

Power Words
When you’re writing and hoping for a good response, remember to choose your words carefully. There are power words that will make your reader sit up and take notice. Experts agree, the word “you” is the most powerful word in marketing, because it’s personal! Use the word “you” when you talk or write to your customers, because when you do, you’re addressing their favorite subject! An example might be: “I can offer you clear, concise copy that professionally describes your product or service and delivers the results you need.” Pat Darcey, Copywriter

Is the Press Release a Dinosaur?
In the “olden” days, we could hammer out a newsworthy press release, print a dozen copies, stick them in envelopes, and mail them to the newspapers. Then we’d wait for the publication dates to make sure we got “good ink.” Most times, we did. But times have changed! So … has the press release gone the way of the dinosaur?
Heck no! You can still hammer ‘em out. Post on Social Media and on your LinkedIn page. Send copies to your clients and prospects. Print up a bunch and leave them at the front desk or in your office. Press releases will always travel well – they just use a jet these days, instead of a covered wagon. Want help writing one? My name is Pat Darcey, I’m a copywriter. I can help if you Use My Words.

Whether you’re a one-person service provider or a major corporation, you probably need a marketing plan. Marketing is what drives sales. If you’re wondering about a marketing plan, I can help.

Bet you didn't realize we use words and phrases every day that we actually attribute to Shakespeare. Next time you say "wear your heart on your sleeve," you're quoting the Bard. A few other popular phrases that had their origins with Shakespeare's writings include "dead as a doornail," "come what may," "too much of a good thing," and the ever-popular "vanished into thin air!"

I’d like to share a marketing moment. Think about your business for a second. Your business is wide-ranging, but could you choose just one product or service? Could you feature it? Could you market that one product or service to your customers or prospects? Could you market it on Facebook? Could you email it? It’s easier to sell one item rather than a whole concept. The bigger sale will hopefully come later. Of course, if you want help, just ask. My name is Pat Darcey. I’m a copywriter. Find me at usemywords.com.

Who knows what path our words can take as we go through social change. Think about the word ‘friend.’ It’s a lovely noun, right? Who doesn’t like to be called a friend? Or who doesn’t want to have a friend? Or be a friend? But no. Now, ‘friend’ is also a verb – like in I ‘friended’ you; or even worse, I ‘unfriended’ you! Be careful out there, my friends. You may need professional help to navigate the murky sea of syntax. My name is Pat Darcey. I’m a copywriter and I can help. Find me at Usemywords.com.
