Chamber of Sustainable Commerce We can strengthen our economy without hurting workers, communities, or the environment.

Along with the League of Women Voters, Indivisible Hawaii, Common Cause Hawaii, Hawaii Alliance for Progressive Action (HAPA) and The Center for American Progress, the Chamber of Sustainable Commerce co-sponsored the FIRST EVER Good Government Caucus workshop on April 6, "How States are Making Citizens United Irrelevant."

Mahalo to Olēlo Community Media and the Good Government Caucus to help us move SB2471 through conference and get it passed. This is not just groundbreaking for Hawaii, but will have ripple effects across the states. All eyes are on Hawaii... letʻs make this happen! Email or call your state representatives and senators to support this long overdue bill that affirms that artificial persons created under state law (ie corporations) do not include the power to spend money or contribute anything of value to influence elections or ballot measures.

“There are better uses for our ʻāina, and far better uses for our labor and intelligence. Climate change and the increasing impoverishment of peoples can only be counteracted by our communities becoming more self-sufficient, innovative, and agile as producers of food and protectors of water.

We can decide to go along with the plunder of other nations as other empires have done in the past, or we can insist on contributing to the future of life and resiliency on this planet.”

Onipa'a. The Chamber of Sustainable Commerce supports thriving, resilient Hawai’i communities that produce food and protect our water resources vs advancing militarism here or anywhere else.

On February 16 the Honolulu Star-Advertiser announced that the U.S. Department of Defense intends to make Hawaiʻi a key player in arms manufacturing and distribution.

What we fund shapes the future we live in.

While billions go toward militarization, our communities are still asking for the basics: affordable energy, resilient infrastructure, healthy ecosystems, and thriving local economies.

A regenerative economy isn’t just about new solutions—it’s about redirecting resources toward what actually sustains life.

Global military spending, which hit $2.7 trillion last year, is projected to reach $6.6 trillion by 2035 if current trends persist. The massive diversion of resources poses a serious threat to humanity's future by undermining sustainable peace and development.

We cannot underestimate the impact of the chemicals of plastic on our human system. Under ten personal care chemicals are banned in the US while the EU bans over 1100 plastic-related chemicals.

The Plastic Detox, which can be seen on Netflix, follows couples reducing their exposure to everyday plastics to explore how microplastics and chemical additives may impact human health—especially fertility—and what changes might help.

The Chamber of Sustainable Commerce urges a commitment to move away from chemicals and plastics in whatever ways we can.

Following six couples with unexplained infertility as they lower their exposure to plastics in hopes it helps them conceive.
