Top 3 Reasons for Early Morning Waking 🌅

Daylight Saving Time can definitely be blamed, but let’s also take a closer look at some things that may help with some slight adjustments!

☀️Too Much Morning Sun: The morning sunlight that creeps into your child’s room (and yours!) causes our bodies to wake up. Because of the time change, the sun is “up earlier” and is also sending our body clocks a signal that it is time to start the day. Blackout shades are amazing – make sure they’re on tight!

⏰Bedtime is Too Late/Overtired at Bedtime: When your child has had a busy day, always aim for an early bedtime. Try to move bedtime earlier by 15 minutes and see if that makes a difference! It is also helpful to build in a bedtime routine that allows your child’s body to wind down and get ready for sleep.

😴Not Enough or Too Much Daytime Sleep: If your child gets a lot of daytime sleep, they won’t need as much at night! On the other hand, if your little one is taking short naps, their body may be overtired. Overtired children often sleep less at night and tend to have more night wakings, and early wakings!

Did you know that your little one can only handle being awake for so long? After a certain amount of time, their little bodies need sleep!

Wake windows are the time between a child's wake time and their next nap or bedtime.

When you know your baby's appropriate wake window, you can set them up on a consistent schedule.

Keeping an eye on your child's wake window can prevent overtiredness and set them up for sleep success!

Reminder! Every baby is different. This chart shows averages, use it as a guide.
