Originally thought I’d sand just the top and paint the rest, then as I went each new area, I realized was all real wood and was sanding nicely. Soo I didn’t have a good excuse to paint now, which meant it was going to take way longer than I thought. So much sanding! And the hutch had so many small spaces! So I went all in and just focused on all the small details and think it came out beautifully! Let me know your thoughts in the comments.

If you eliminate the worst part: then painting is fun and easy! I love painting! It’s therapeutic for me! And ain’t nobody got time for tape!!
Tips for Cutting In and getting Straight Lines:
⭐️ Use a good angled brush. A 2–2½” quality sash/angled brush gives you way more control.
⭐️ Don’t overload your brush. Too much paint = Big Drips
⭐️ Start slightly away from the edge. * see how I did it in the video-Put most of the paint down first, then use the remaining paint on the brush to work toward your line.
⭐️ Use the tip of the brush to create the line. Let the pointed end do the precision work rather than pushing the whole brush into the edge. (I like to work on a slant)
⭐️ Keep your hand steady. Rest your pinky or part of your hand against the wall if you need that extra stability.
⭐️ Work in small sections.
⭐️ ⭐️Here’s my Biggest Tip-Have your eyes above/higher than your brush & pull the brush toward you! I found I have way better control when I can see OVER the line and I’m pulling the brush, rather than reaching away and guessing.
⭐️ Lastly-Use long, smooth strokes. Once you’re on your line, avoid lots of choppy strokes, stay there till your paint runs out on brush!
⭐️ Practice makes perfect!!

Sometimes you just have to put the vision on paper and then make it happen! 🖤

I started with a blank dining room and a sketch of what I envisioned, and slowly brought it all together with:
🖤 Box trim molding on the accent wall
🖤 Rechargeable sconces — no wiring or electrician needed!
🖤 A vintage gold mirror
🖤 A new modern light fixture
🖤 A new moody rug
🖤 And my favorite part… the dining set I refinished last summer that originally belonged to my grandmother. 🤎

Seeing the finished room next to that little sketch I made is honestly the BEST feeling.

Incoming Project!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Even though I have a deck project abandoned and a couple pieces of furniture going in garage… I need a fresh start! Let’s move to the front entrance… which MIGHT creep up to the stairs😬😬😬😬 But this should really be done like this weekend!!! So easy!!! Let’s go!!

From Kindergarten to 5th Grade. They may not be at the same school together these last few years; but we still get our 1st day pic in. These two are ready for their last year at Elementary School and then together again at Middle School next year! And the group has gotten a little bigger over the years… all 5 of the crew are in school this year!
