Better Internet for our rural communities starts with you!

Runestone Telecom continues to evaluate interest in potential fiber Internet projects in rural portions of Traverse County and Kandiyohi County. To help us plan for future expansion, we need to hear from the residents, farms and businesses that need better Internet service.

If faster, more reliable and more affordable Internet is needed at your property, please let us know!

1️⃣ Start with Runestone: Complete our short form to add your name to our list:
https://form.jotform.com/262385035416052

2️⃣ Register your address with the State of Minnesota: After submitting Runestone’s form, you will be redirected to Minnesota’s Broadband Line Extension Connection Program website. Enter the address of the property where better Internet service is needed.

You can also go directly to the MN DEED program in the comments below ⬇

Why does this matter?
Having as many eligible locations as possible entered into Minnesota’s Line Extension Connection Program is an important step in helping Runestone identify areas in need and prepare for future fiber optic projects.

🏡 Please share this information with your neighbors, too! The more local homes, farms and businesses that let us know better Internet is needed, the better picture we have of the community’s needs.

🎉🎉FRS Scholarship Opportunities 🎉🎉

⭐Runestone Telecom is proud to once again participate in the Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) Scholarship Program, in cooperation with NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association.

🏆 FRS awards scholarships to students from rural communities who are pursuing their education at a two- or four-year college or vocational school. Scholarship opportunities are also available to non-traditional students and returning undergraduate students who may have taken a break from their education and are now continuing their studies.

To be eligible, applicants must:
📍Be a U.S. citizen
📍Be sponsored by a participating NTCA member: Runestone Telecom Association
📍Plan to attend a two- or four-year college or vocational school
📍Express an interest in returning to a rural community after graduation

⭐ Applicants will complete one online application, which qualifies them for all FRS scholarships for which they are eligible.

⭐ The application includes a 500–800 word essay, two letters of recommendation and a transcript.

⭐ Applicants will also need to identify Runestone Telecom Association as their sponsoring NTCA member.

⏰Application deadline: February 15, 2027

☀️ It’s Sun Outage Season! 📺

Expected affected time: September 28th- October 14th

Twice a year, the sun lines up directly behind satellites used to deliver TV programming. When that happens, the sun’s energy can temporarily interfere with the satellite signal.

During a sun outage, Cable TV and some streaming TV viewers may notice brief interruptions, including pixelation, freezing or a temporary loss of some channels. These interruptions typically last only a few minutes and clear up on their own as the sun moves out of alignment.

If you have trouble with your Runestone Telecom service that lasts longer than 20 minutes, or it's after sunset, please call our office 322-986-2013

☀️📡 It’s temporary, it’s normal - and unfortunately, even our technicians can’t move the sun. 😉
