I have wanted to share this news for almost a month and life has been lifing!! I have the best opportunity for gifts for Mom and Grandma. If you are a Mom or Grandma, send this to Santa or tag him! November 20-21, I will be offering Heirloom Portraits. Now, this is usually for children, but I can see this done for Legacy Portraits with Grandma or Grandpa too! I feel pretty strongly about family portraits on display. It's a huge part of why I do what I do the way I do it. I think family should be art - even if it's not perfect (and sometimes it's pretty close)! Do you have your family as your artwork? Why or why not?

Let's try it again...Last week was a whirlwind finishing up summer. I get to vacation with my favorite people and the only favor I ask is that I get a family picture. Seeing my babies and their babies all together is the greatest joy to me, and a big motivation of why I do what I do.

This window moment was too good not to use at several points of Katie and Michael's day.

Picture 1: The night before. We shot the details since it was a morning wedding, and I took the opportunity to put the dress in the window and let Katie pause to admire her beautiful gown.

Picture 2: Before the ceremony. The silhouette with the morning light was just perfection for a bride portrait.

Our little Isla Ann had her first trip to the beach last week and her mom and I of course had to scheme up some beach portraits in her starfish headband (Birdie Baby Boutique ). Hot tip: Sunrise portraits are great for older babies if you want them sleeping. Also, just sand, waves, and sun are good for sleeping in general - even for Mammies.

The bride & groom portraits. Honestly, most photographers live for this part of the day. It's important to me for my brides to have beautiful images of their first day as husband and wife. Hana and Cason made it easy. 😉 So much thought and effort goes to the production of the day but these images from the timeline represent the marriage. Now, the age old questions is color or black and white?? Tell me in the comments!

Gotta give a shout out to our local bridal gown shop too. (An Affair to Remember ) was the source of Hana's classic gown and also Cason's tux. Amy not only has a great eye for style and variety, but she has created a big city experience with local comfort and love!

What's the perfect first year plan placement?

Whatever is perfect to you! Some parents choose the simplicity of Newborn and 1 year to bookend the baby days, and it's common to add a 6 month session to show those chub rolls and milestone progression. Some families like the more traditional Newborn, 3 month, 6 month, 9 month, 12 month schedule. Then, every step is documented. Sometimes it is more about stages, so they choose newborn, sitting, standing or 4 month, 8 month, 12 month. All of this to say, whatever calls your heart is right, and I am here for all of it!

Rowyn is on the Newborn/3/6/9/12 plan so you'll be seeing a lot of her! I truly think we became best friends at her 3 month session because she just thought I was the funniest human ever! 3 months can look a lot like newborn because they aren't sitting up yet, but the difference comes in the personality! The eye contact and smiles just make me squeal! See you soon Rowyn!

The baby boy is 12 today. 🥲 This one just hits a little different. I've noticed signs of teenage life for a few months now, and I've already told my family to start praying for me. This momma is tired, y'all! All joking aside. Dent is a joy to me. His name means "from a happy home" and boy is there a story behind that one. He loves trying out recipes and making treats but decided he doesn't like the beach this year. He loves being with his friends, but likes down time at home. He's a Dede to 4 nephews and a niece so far. His wit is a little sharper than any of us have ever been ready for. He is loved more than he'll ever know. Happy Birthday Dent!
