Did you know FMCSA has fraud alerts?

Educate yourself. Go to FMCSA’s official website and click on Registration, the Fraud Alerts. They list the most recent fraud emails and letters along with examples.

The trucking industry is rife with fraud and spam. Be very careful clicking any links or responding to emails and texts. Official websites end in .gov. And emails come from an address ending in .gov.

Secure .gov websites use HTTPS A lock ( ) or https:// means you’ve safely connected to the .gov website. Share sensitive information only on official, secure websites.

Please be aware of the latest phishing/scam email going around. It does appear very official but it is not!
It does not come from FMCSA.
The form that is attached has been modified from the official form.

If you have received this email, block the sender and delete the email.

If you have responded to the email, carefully monitor both your business and personal accounts.

DON’T FALL FOR THIS ONE

The newest phishing scam is a request for a safety audit via email. It looks very official.

But this email does not come from a .gov email address. The link does not take you to a .gov website.

In the picture see the addresses in red, not from the government.

When you click the link you will be asked for your USDOT number, FMCSA PIN code, and your EIN. Don’t do it. You will be compromising not only your USDOT # but also your business id.

When in doubt, call FMCSA at 800-832-5660. Or the state agency that governs motor carriers.
