Every single vintage quilt I get to quilt for clients is always special! This one came from a local resident of Holden MO. A brother and sister asked me to quilt this quilt top that was made by hand by their grandmother. It’s a beautiful quilt and will be a birthday gift for their Mom. They were incredible to work with and it’s wonderful that they decided to preserve this quilt top. And it was my privilege to quilt and bind it for them. It will be an amazing family heirloom!!!

The Big Boy is back home!!! I was lucky enough to learn it was coming right through my town only 1/2 Mile from me!!! I planned my schedule so I could enjoy the rare opportunity of seeing it!!! It did not disappoint!!! And after it went past me, whistle cutting through the hot, humid summer air, I went on my way to ship two client quilts via UPS!!! A red letter day for sure!!!

Facebook reminded me today of one of my favorite quilting adventures. Several years ago, I hosted a small quilting retreat on Brigantine Beach in New Jersey, where we spent four days designing original landscape quilts, quilting, laughing, and enjoying the ocean. One of the ladies even flew in from Denver after we met through Facebook, and that retreat turned into a lasting friendship. Looking back, I’m so grateful for the wonderful people quilting has brought into my life.

Something new is growing at Silver Forest Quilts. 🍂

What started as a simple idea for a hang tag has blossomed into an entire collection of Aspen Leaves that celebrate creativity, quilting, color, and the beauty of handmade things.

Each leaf is inspired by the forest magic that gave Silver Forest Quilts its name. Some leaf designs celebrate the changing seasons. Some reflect moonlight, snowfall, gardens, lace, and the joy of creating.

As I expand Silver Forest Quilts into new products and new adventures, these leaves will begin appearing in my packaging, thank-you notes, and special surprises tucked into orders.

This first leaf is Aspen Grove — the beginning of the collection.

After all, a forest is never just one tree. 🌳 🌲🍃

This sweet quilt for a baby girl is on its way to Colorado Springs after being quilted in Holden, Missouri by yours truly!!! The quilting design is “Annie’s Favorite” which was quilted in gold on the front and a variegated mauve thread on the back. Perfect!!! 💗💗💗

Twenty months ago, this space looked very different.

What is now home to Silver Forest Quilts was once a small house with separate rooms, a kitchen, walls, built-in cabinets, dated finishes, and a completely different layout.

Over the past twenty months, the space has been transformed into the quilting studio I envisioned. Walls came down, cabinets were removed, floors were replaced, every room was painted, and the entire building was redesigned to support creativity, quilting, and welcoming clients.

I hired a talented local contractor to help with much of the renovation work, and I spent many hours painting and adding the finishing touches myself.

Looking back at these before-and-after photos, I’m amazed at how far this little building has come.
