No matter what room you're in, the rules don't change.
How you speak shapes what happens next.
When most leaders hear "public speaking," they think of TED Talks and huge audiences.
But the techniques that work on stage are just as effective in boardrooms, team meetings and one-on-ones.
You don't have to be a natural at public speaking to make an impact.
Having a few reliable strategies builds your presence in any room.
I've made a free vault on how to communicate as a leader right here: https://lnkd.in/ek6S8zfC
For now, though, here are 9 for you to try:
1️⃣ Presence Effect
↳ Walk in feeling calm and open to the conversation. Everyone else follows your lead.
2️⃣ 3-Part Open (hook → story → promise)
↳ Quickly grab attention, ground it in a human moment, then tell the audience what they'll get.
3️⃣ Vocal Variety
↳ Vary your pace, volume, and tone to keep people's attention.
4️⃣ Rule of Three
↳ Use it effectively to help the audience follow along with key points.
5️⃣ Power Position
↳ Stay grounded with your arms relaxed by your sides to show authority.
6️⃣ Power Pause
↳ Pause after a key point to let it sink in.
7️⃣ 2-Minute Story Rule
↳ Tell stories in two minutes or less to keep the audience's attention.
8️⃣ 5-5-5 Rule (scan, hold, rotate)
↳ Scan the audience, hold eye contact with someone for around 5 seconds, and move to someone else.
9️⃣ Callback Technique
↳ Return to something you said earlier to connect the threads.
Whether you're addressing your core team or speaking to a room of hundreds,
how you communicate shapes how everyone else receives what you're saying.
