We are looking for a Sawmill Foreman to lead our mill-floor operations and help keep our sawmill running safely, efficiently, and productively.
This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who is dependable, mechanically inclined, willing to learn, and comfortable wearing many hats. The ideal candidate will be someone who can supervise a crew while also jumping in when something needs fixed, adjusted, or figured out.
What You’ll Do
-Supervise and support daily production employees and mill-floor operations
-Coordinate daily production to ensure safety, efficiency, and quality goals are met
-Monitor equipment and production processes and help troubleshoot problems
-Learn and understand the operation of various sawmill machinery, saws, and equipment
-Train and assist employees with proper equipment operation and safety procedures
-Help identify and resolve mechanical or operational issues
-Perform basic maintenance and repairs as needed
-Assist with small welding, fabrication, and other maintenance projects
-Keep the mill floor organized, productive, and operating safely
-Communicate effectively with employees and management regarding production, equipment, and safety concerns
-Lead by example and be willing to step in wherever needed
What We’re Looking For
-Previous sawmill, manufacturing, production, or supervisory experience preferred
-Strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn
-Comfortable working around heavy machinery and industrial equipment
-Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems
-Basic welding, fabrication, or general maintenance skills are a plus
-Dependable, hardworking, and safety-minded
-Strong communication and leadership skills
-Ability to work as part of a team and effectively direct others
-Willingness to learn all aspects of the sawmill operation
-A true “jack of all trades” attitude — willing to learn, figure things out, and get the job done
