Why Tarpon should be given more Respect in Boca Pass.
1. They can live as long as we do.
2. Average age of Tarpon hooked up in Boca Grande Pass is 30-50 yrs old.
3. They don’t get to sit down and rest after the fight is over like you do… they still have to try to out swim any sharks in the area.
4. In the Pass as soon as the fish is leadered, Break it Off. Those lil hooks mean nothing to those Big Fish. 5-15 min fight time Max
5. Fighting Tarpon long enough to get the hook out makes them much weaker and an easy target for sharks.
6. It’s a Privilege to have thousands of these magnificent fish come to our back yard every year. Do your part to make sure more of them survive their visit each season.
