Great energy at this year's Los Angeles Digital Government Summit, a few themes stood out that are directly relevant to how we approach public-sector technology engagements at DataHouse Consulting.

Agencies are done buying shiny tools that don't move the needle. The conversations that resonated most were about outcomes, faster service delivery, reduced manual work, better data visibility, not feature lists. Technology is a means to an end, and that end has to be measurable.

The strongest sessions flipped the usual script: instead of "๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ฆ'๐ด ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ณ ๐ฑ๐ณ๐ฐ๐ฅ๐ถ๐ค๐ต," it was "๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ฆ'๐ด ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐ฐ๐ฑ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ข๐ต๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ข๐ญ ๐ฑ๐ข๐ช๐ฏ ๐ฑ๐ฐ๐ช๐ฏ๐ต, ๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ฆ'๐ด ๐ฉ๐ฐ๐ธ ๐ธ๐ฆ ๐ด๐ฐ๐ญ๐ท๐ฆ๐ฅ ๐ช๐ต."
That problem-first mindset is exactly how we approach engagements like our current ERP modernization work, understand the workflow gaps before recommending a system.

A recurring thread across sessions: shared services models (whether shared IT infrastructure, common platforms across departments, or consortium-based procurement) are helping agencies stretch limited budgets without sacrificing quality.
Low cost and high value aren't mutually exclusive when the underlying architecture is designed to scale across multiple users.
DataHouse works with local and global partners to deliver practical technology solutions that address real challenges, improve efficiency, and create measurable value. We look forward to bringing these ideas our ongoing public-sector work.
