October is Dental Hygiene Month, a time to recognize the dedicated professionals who protect our oral health and educate our communities. Here in Hawai‘i, we’re facing a shortage of dental hygienists and other oral health professionals. To address this, the HDS Foundation created the Smile Makers program to inspire the next generation of dental professionals.

By encouraging local youth to explore careers in dental hygiene, we’re helping to expand access to care and provide rewarding, in-demand career paths right here at home.

💜 Join us for the 31st Annual Men's March Against Violence, Hawai'i at 11:30 a.m. on October 2 at ‘Iolani Palace.

This year, we march as “Men of Aloha” with compassion, courage, and commitment to ending domestic violence in our communities.

Kaiser Permanente Hawaii is proud to sponsor this powerful event and celebrate one of our own: Jamie Ford, MD, Emergency Department chief and longtime advocate, who will be honored as Domestic Violence Action Center’s Distinguished Citizen of the Year.

Dr. Ford has been a steadfast voice against domestic violence, often serving as emcee for the march and providing care to survivors in the ED. His firsthand experience with the impacts of violence has fueled his dedication to being a role model — encouraging men across Hawaii to choose nonviolence as a way of life.
