O-Kimono By Hiromi

O-Kimono By Hiromi My family has a lot of Kimono that we no longer use. It seemed a waste to throw them out, so I have I was born and raised in Nagano Japan.

I have 2 older sisters and a younger brother, all of them still in Japan. I married a local Japanese man and have lived in Hawaii ever since with my two daughters. Now that I am retired, I have time to pursue my passion, which is sewing. I started taking apart my old Kimonos that I did not use anymore to make items as ornaments or decoration. As older Japanese friends passed away, their families h

ad no use for the Kimonos, but did not wish to just throw it away. The families would give me their loved ones' materials and I would, in-turn sew something together for them using the materials. I have come to see that this is what I can offer other people. The material does not have to be Kimono, or even silk. I have made patchwork quilts with all kinds of materials. I would like to provide a platform for people to come to me and I can help to up-cycle their beloved materials!
