As we head into the last week of the year, we'd like to give a nod to the wonder of the unknown. Technology is changing the fabric of society, faster than any of us can keep up. Even those of us who are running alongside it.

We learned Friday that another DeFi program has jumped the shark from the United States to avoid the undefined regulatory environment being imposed by the SEC. Most recently, Coinbase has decided to make their MakerDAO DeFi program unavailable to US citizens.

In a new world order where "disintermediation" is the name of the game, the US is falling further behind every day. Brian Brooks (former head of OCC) said it best in last week's congressional hearing, where he pointed out that the US SEC consistently refuses products that the other G20 nations allow.

Meaning they're forcing the hand of companies to offer services in non-US territories around the world.

A few weeks ago, the Constitution DAO (https://www.constitutiondao.com/) raised over $40 Million in 7 days to purchase a copy of the US Constitution.

Regardless of the fact that they were outbid, the DAO did exactly as it was designed to do. It was a perfect proof of concept. By giving ownership to the many through a fully transparent, Decentralized Autonomous Organization that provided truly democratic governance, the participants proved the efficacy of what is fast becoming the organizational model du jour.

Weeks later, another DAO hopeful succeeded at a Sotheby's auction by fulfilling this basic litmus test of efficacy. An anti-slavery document was bid on and won through funds raised.

As reported by Bloomberg, the creator of that project stated: "We collectively own this, but it’s not about the document, it’s about attempting to solve many of the systemic issues not just in America but worldwide." El Salvador has instigated the move for countries with much smaller economies than the United States to adopt the appreciating asset of Bitcoin as legal tender. They will always be remembered as the first, and certainly will not be the last. But in a new historic move, they have announced plans to create a city fueled by the geothermal energy of one of their volcanoes.

El Salvador may become a financial hub for Central and South America.

This news is just the latest in the growing interest cities have shown for funding their infrastructure through cryptocurrency. Miami recently unveiled their , with New York City's new mayor looking into as a solution for giving local communities more power to improve the conditions of their cities.
