On November 11, 1979, comedian and actor Robin Williams made NFL history by joining the Denver Broncos cheerleading squad during a game at Mile High Stadium. Performing in character as Mork from his hit TV show Mork & Mindy, Williams delighted over 70,000 fans with his eccentric energy and hilarious antics.

Decked out in a dazzling outfit that included white knee-high cowboy boots, a sequined orange-and-blue mini skirt and top, gloves, and an orange scarf, Williams brought his signature humor to the sideline performance. This iconic moment, which made him the NFL’s first male cheerleader, took place during a triumphant 45-10 Broncos victory over the New England Patriots.

The stunt was part of promotional efforts for Mork & Mindy, which was set in Boulder, Colorado. Williams’ unforgettable appearance perfectly blended comedy, sports, and pop culture, cementing his reputation as a trailblazing entertainer who could charm any crowd.
