Today, we pause to remember the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness gave us the freedoms we enjoy every day.

As you spend time with family and friends this Memorial Day, please take a moment to honor those who never made it home.

From all of us at Cotton Fire Rescue, we remember the fallen and stand grateful for their sacrifice.

🔥 Just because the burn ban has been lifted doesn’t mean the fire danger is gone. Conditions are drying back out quickly, and it won’t take much for a small fire to turn into a big problem.

If you choose to burn, please use extreme caution:
• Keep water and tools nearby
• Never leave a fire unattended
• Avoid burning on windy days
• Make sure your fire is completely out before leaving

We know everyone’s excited to get back to cleaning up limbs and brush piles… but we’d really prefer not to spend our evening chasing your “it was just a little fire” through the woods. 😅

Please burn responsibly and help us keep our crews available for real emergencies.

Last night members spent the evening training at the FTCC Fire, Rescue and Swift Water Training sharpening their technical rescue skills. Personnel conducted rappelling operations from the top of the rescue tower before transitioning into confined space rescue scenarios inside the tower.

Crews practiced safely lowering rescuers into a simulated manhole environment using specialized rope rescue equipment and systems, then successfully bringing them back to the surface using mechanical advantage hauling systems.

Training like this helps ensure our personnel are prepared for high-risk, low-frequency emergencies such as confined space incidents, industrial accidents, and technical rescues.

We’re proud of the hard work our members continue to put in to stay ready for whatever our community may need. 🚒

Today, we want to recognize all the moms out there — the ones holding families together, cheering from the sidelines, answering late night phone calls, and somehow still making everything look easy.

A special Happy Mother’s Day to the moms serving in the fire service, the wives raising families while their firefighter is away on calls, and the mothers who support us every single day behind the scenes.

Thank you for the sacrifices, patience, strength, and love you show every day. We hope you all have a safe and wonderful Mother’s Day!

Today, we proudly recognize International Firefighters Day and honor the brave men and women who serve our communities with courage, dedication, and heart.

At Cotton Fire and Rescue, we are grateful for the opportunity to stand alongside firefighters across the world who answer the call—day or night—ready to protect lives and property. This day is also a time to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Their legacy will never be forgotten.

Thank you to our members, past and present, and to firefighters everywhere for your commitment to service and your unwavering bravery.

Stay safe, and take a moment today to thank a firefighter.
