Things with personality. Things that are on the move. Things we illustrated, built, and got people talking. And even a few things that have been around as long as we have.

All brands that understand that less is more. All brands that have “debranded” over time. In our case, over the past 25 years.

You might be wondering, what could MONTE’s clean and geometric workmark possibly say about us? Turns out, quite a bit.

The letterforms are of a monotone thickness—they are doggedly consistent.

The O is a (near) perfect circle—a perfectly imperfect, united team.

The tracking is wide and open—allowing each letter to shine individually.

And the M? With a couple of slices here—and a bit of negative space there—you’ve got a custom letterform that gives away the ending of our story: We’re the people that get the job done.

Who would have thought you could say so much with just five letters?

Well, we did. MONTE.

25 years ago, our office looked a little different. So did the technology.

In the beginning, we ran two dial-up modems that could stay connected for about 10 minutes at a time. And it took roughly seven miles of copper wire to connect us to a big phone system.

The office today looks very different. The tools do, too.

The part that remains? Trying new things. Making new things. Doing the things that move projects and brands forward. And having people who care enough about the details to make those things work. From strategy and words to design, web and everything in between, that’s still what our team does every day.

After 25 years, we’ve seen a lot change.

The next 25 years? We have some ideas.

Turns out, 25 years goes by pretty fast when you’re busy making things.

We dug through the archives and found a few snapshots from along the way: previous teammates, old computers, brainstorms around the table, photo shoots, client visits, team outings, questionable fashion choices, and plenty of work we’re still proud of.

A lot has changed since 2001. The technology. The team. Where we do our work. Definitely the cameras.

But some things look surprisingly familiar: people gathered around a table, ideas getting passed back and forth, and a team figuring out how to make something better.

This year, Monte celebrates 25 years of ideas, creativity, collaboration, and doing things a little differently.

And to mark the occasion, we launched a brand-new Monte website—one that reflects where we’ve been, who we are today and where we’re headed next.

Throughout October, we’ll be taking a journey through time—revisiting where we started, sharing memorable milestones (and maybe a few things we can’t believe we designed), celebrating the people and projects that made the last 25 years possible, and highlighting the ideas that have us excited about what comes next.
