MTEC SmartZone had the pleasure of hosting U.S. Senator Elissa Slotkin at our offices yesterday morning for a roundtable discussion with local business and community leaders. The conversation focused on the opportunities and challenges Michigan businesses face as they grow and expand in the advanced manufacturing space.

Thank you to Senator Slotkin and her team for taking the time to visit Houghton and hear from our community. Your insight and goals on how to better support economic growth for companies here in Michigan were truly exciting to hear.

As the summer comes to an end, MTEC is saying goodbye to our Business Development Intern, Austin Salani. Austin has been supporting our AMMP Accelerator Program and its participating companies, as well as evaluating MTEC’s programs and their services, and their economic impact across the region.

We are so grateful for Austin’s support this summer. His hard work and dedication have allowed MTEC and our clients to be all the more successful. MTEC wishes him the best and continued success as he heads into another academic year!

Last week, GLSV held its Congressional Delegation Breakfast (CODEL). This event was the first of its kind to be held in the Keweenaw, and the entire Upper Peninsula as whole.

The room was full of industry leaders, supporters, innovators, and policy makers to discuss the opportunities and challenges that define Michigan’s defense sector.

A special thank you to GLSV for organizing an event such as this, providing a space for effective collaboration across the region.
