☀️ ACTIVE HEAT ADVISORY
🚨 HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT TODAY 🚨
Grand Caillou & Dulac residents, a Heat Advisory is officially in effect today, Friday, June 19, from 10:00 AM until 7:00 PM CDT.
While air temperatures will be in the low 90s, the extreme humidity will make it feel like 105°F to 109°F outside. With those still recovering or clearing debris from yesterday's storms, please take extra precautions to prevent heat-related illness.
👉 What you need to do:
-Hydrate Constantly: Drink plenty of water before you feel thirsty. --Avoid caffeine and alcohol.
-Take Breaks: If you are working outside or clearing storm debris, take frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas.
-Check on Neighbors: Check in on the elderly, toddlers, and those without functioning air conditioning.
-Protect Pets: Bring pets indoors. If they must stay outside, ensure they have plenty of shade and fresh, cool water.
-Look Before You Lock: Never leave children or pets inside a parked vehicle for even a single minute.
-Know the signs of heat exhaustion (heavy sweating, dizziness, nausea) and heat stroke (hot/red skin, confusion, fainting).
-Heat stroke is a medical emergency—call 911 immediately.
Stay safe, stay cool, and look out for one another!
