Yesterday I had the opportunity to take photos at my Aunt Bonnie’s celebration of life.
Aunt Bonnie was truly one of a kind. She had a smile that could light up a room, a laugh that was impossible not to join in on, and a personality that made the world feel a little brighter. She loved the beach, she loved life, and most importantly, she loved people. Even when life gave her every reason to see the world differently, she somehow always chose to see the good in others, even in those who may not have always shown her the same kindness.
For 22 years, she fought a battle that most of us could never fully understand, yet she never let that battle define the beautiful person she was. There was so much more to Bonnie than the cancer she fought. There was joy, laughter, love, resilience, and a spirit that left an impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Over the years, I’ve had family members and people who knew her growing up tell me that I remind them of her. I’ve always taken that as one of the sweetest compliments, because if I can carry even a little of her kindness, her joy, and her ability to find the good in this world, then I know I’m doing something right.
Being able to capture the moments from her celebration of life was incredibly meaningful. Through the tears, the stories, the laughter, and the memories shared, it was so evident just how many lives she touched.
I hope wherever she is now in paradise, there’s endless sunshine, beautiful water, and the kind of peace she so deeply deserves after such a long fight. Until we meet again, keep shining✨🌴🐚🌺🤍
