It’s incredibly gratifying to see this project go from Marcus Glenn and Nathan Hawthorne’s vision to reality. Exciting things happening with Black United Fund of Texas, and more to come! Cleo Johnson-McLaughlin, The Nature Heritage Society Houston, Houston Health Department

The Black United Fund of Texas built a shipping container farm in Greater Fifth Ward. They hope to scale this model for food deserts across Houston.

Our team had an incredible time connecting, learning, and sharing at the National Brownfields Conference in Detroit this month!

From gaining greater insight into the transformative potential of community solar on brownfields from Matt Popkin, to discussing the impact of placemaking and placekeeping from Jen Clancey and , to learning about the role of “joyful disruptors” from Amy Dzialowski, our team left Detroit feeling extremely motivated and inspired.

We are excited to bring all the lessons we learned back to Houston to continue to support the incredible work of our community partners and the local brownfields efforts!

🏘️ At Community Lattice, we believe that real estate is not just about properties; it's about building connections, fostering growth, and empowering dreams. 💙🔑🤝

💜🌈☺️ Thank you Houston Land Bank and Houston Housing Collaborative for contracting with Community Lattice to fulfill the engagement and community building needs around your inaugural Banker's Fair, in which you gathered over 100 of Houston's realtors, bankers, financial institutions and developers for a fun-filled day of networking, collaborative conversation, and the opportunity to connect with leaders and lenders so that we can learn from each other's experiences and successes, and create a future where real development is not just about the structures, but about the fostering of thriving communities. 🤝💙

🔔 Stay connected with us for updates and inspiring stories about community collaboration in real estate, brownfields redevelopment, and the rebuilding of our communities through an environmental justice lens. Together, we can shape a better future! 💫🌍

The Community Lattice team was pleased to join Mayor Sylvester Turner, city departments, and other city-partnered organizations for Earth Day demonstrations, hands-on activities, displays, and interactive booths showcasing city initiatives highlighting a cleaner, greener Houston.

A vibrant speaker series preceded the outdoor activities and set the stage for a fantastic week of inclusive and community-minded learning. Members got to hear about current and future developments, partnerships with local organizations, Houston Community College, and the City. It was truly an "all hands on deck" showcase, filling the hearts and minds of Houstonians and giving tips, resources, and vital information on how Houston can become a bigger, better city!
