Milestones, markers or benchmarks are important. It allows you to look back and see what you've overcome. Today we're just a few subscribers away from reaching 250 on YouTube, and honestly, this milestone means more to me than most people probably realize.

Because behind every subscriber is a teacher who is still trying.
Still showing up.
Still studying after long days in the classroom.
Still believing certification is possible, even after disappointment, exhaustion, or self-doubt.

For a long time, I questioned whether this platform would truly grow. But today feels like confirmation that educators do need support that understands both the exam and the pressure behind it.

This Mother’s Day, I want to take a moment to acknowledge the many women who spend their days pouring into others. Whether you are raising children, supporting students, caring for family, mentoring others, or simply carrying responsibilities that often go unseen, your work matters!

Just days after the Houston Independent School District confirmed some special education students will move campuses next school year, the Department of Education announced it opened a disability discrimination investigation into Texas' largest school district.

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! Introducing the maestro, Mr. Dale Craine. Some teachers teach leadership, others develop it in real time.

Mr. Craine was that teacher for me.

He led our concert band and marching band at Curie High School when I attended in the 90s. I played the tenor saxophone, but my biggest growth came when I became one of the first female duo drum majors in a band with more than 100 members.

That role required more than talent.
It required presence, decision-making, and accountability.

He trusted two young girls with that responsibility. And held us to the standard that came with it.

That experience shaped how I lead today. Not just leading from the front, but leading with clarity, communication, and confidence under pressure.

When I coach teachers, I often think: Are we giving students opportunities to practice leadership, or are we just talking about it?

Because leadership is not learned in theory, it is built on experience.

Thank you, Mr. Craine, for trusting me with the baton.

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! Today, I’m honoring my middle school teacher, Ms. Palmer from Michelle Clark Middle School, who helped me find my voice.

She was a fashionista in every sense. Always put together. Always confident. And she brought that same energy into the classroom.

But what stands out most is how she pushed me academically.

She made sure I wrote. Essays, reflections, submissions. She did not let me sit on potential. Because of her, I entered contests. I stepped into spaces I might not have chosen on my own. I still remember attending an award ceremony with her, hosted by WBBM-TV.

That moment mattered.

Not just because of the recognition. But because someone made sure my work was seen.

Looking back, I realize she was teaching me something bigger than writing. She was teaching me to put my thinking into the world.

Today, when I work with educators and students, I carry that forward.

Are we just assigning work? Or are we creating opportunities for students to be recognized for their thinking?

Because visibility builds confidence. And confidence changes trajectories.

To Mrs. Palmer, thank you for making sure I did not stay silent.
