We are incredibly proud to share that one of our team members at RAVN Aerospace, Mr. Dale Comstock, and his wife Rebecca, were recognized as the Foster Parents of the Year for the State of Arkansas! This honor was awarded last Thursday night in Little Rock, AR. by the Arkansas Department of Human Services.

Their dedication and commitment to providing a loving and supportive home for children in need embody the values we hold dear at RAVN Aerospace. Dale and Rebecca, congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!

RAVN Aerospace is excited to announce the addition of John "JP" Viskup as our newest full-time pilot.

JP holds a degree in Biology with a focus on Marine Biology and Freshwater Ecology. He served 13 years in the Marines as an Attack Pilot in the AV-8B and as an instructor in the T-6B. His military career also included a ground tour as a company commander of a Marine Wing Support Squadron and roles in operations and schedules. After his military service, JP continued teaching as a CFI/II and was promoted to Chief Pilot, also flying part 135 for a private jet charter.

During his career, JP has received standard recognition and achievement medals and notably qualified for the Spartan Race World Championships in the 2022 season.

"Aviation is at a transition phase between manned and unmanned combat aircraft," JP said. "I believe the skills carried by pilots who flew older, less computer-driven aircraft will be critical in this transition, where current pilots need to maintain those older flying skills while learning to deal with new threats posed by drones and AI-driven aircraft."

JP chose RAVN Aerospace for the opportunity to further develop his skills as a tactical aviator and to train and prepare those still actively serving. "As I have gotten to know the individuals working for RAVN, I see a driven, loyal, dedicated group of professionals who truly enjoy what they do. If you love what you do, it doesn’t feel like work," he added.

We have an expanding team and we are taking this opportunity to highlight our new talent. This week, we are introducing you to retired Marine and our new Hawk pilot, Mike Perez.

Mike, take it away:

1. Give us your first name and your position at RAVN.

Mike – Hawk pilot

2. Who / what inspired you to pursue your career?

I grew up around aviation since my father worked for Delta Airlines. From as young as I can remember, I wanted to be a pilot. I chose the military as my avenue to get into aviation and have loved every aspect of the journey.

3. What are your hobbies/things that interest you?

If I am not flying, my next favorite activity is SCUBA diving and underwater videography.

4. What is the most fulfilling part of your job?

Being part of a team of professionals who continue to serve our country through support to warfighters.

5. What’s the best advice you can give to someone who just started their career?

Dream big and be willing to work hard to make your dreams become reality.

6. What was your path to your job (college degree, etc.)

I graduated from the Naval Academy with a Marine Corps flight contract. After serving 28 years in the Marine Corps, I was blessed to be hired by RAVN so I can continue contributing while doing something I love (flying).

Family reunited at Ellington Field: The USN Goshawk meets the RAVN BAE Hawk Mk.67. These aircraft have similar airframes with the only minor differences being the USN Goshawk was adapted for carrier operations.

In observance of , we asked Training Officer & Deputy Program Manager Marco "Ivan" Parzych to explain why he pursued a degree in electrical engineering and how having a background in engineering shaped his career in aviation. Check out what Ivan, a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy and a former United States Air Force pilot who flew multiple models of the F-16 Fighting Falcon and all three service variants of the F-35 Lightning II, had to say.
