Mini Murals

Mini Murals UP Art Studio, in collaboration with local artists, is turning traffic signal control cabinets into works of art. Found at many intersections in Houston.

The idea behind this project is to convert blight into art by painting the blank canvases around the city – traffic signal control cabinets (sometimes referred to as Electrical or Utility Boxes), which can be found at every intersection that has a traffic signal. This project is intended to help instill civic pride and will beautify neighborhoods and streetscapes. This project will provide the cit

y of Houston with a high level of cultural excellence. Mini Murals is directed by Elia & Noah Quiles of UP Art Studio, who serve as the project manager. This project has the support of the City of Houston Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs, the City of Houston Department of Public Works & Engineering, Houston Arts Alliance, some City Council Members, and some Management Districts. Mini Murals is a sponsored project of Fresh Arts, a nonprofit arts service organization. (Donations to the project are tax-deductible).
