New Study: PFAS ‘Forever Chemicals’ in Drinking Water Associated With Increased Cancer Risk. Researchers say this is the first study to examine the potential association between cancer and public water systems. The findings, published in the Journal of Exposure Science and Environmental Epidemiology, suggest—albeit cautiously—that PFAS contamination of drinking water could contribute to nearly 7,000 incidences of cancer cases in the U.S. per year, based on the most recent EPA list of unregulated contaminants that are required to be monitored. “The significant associations identified between PFAS in drinking water and various cancers, including those of the endocrine, digestive, oral cavity, pharynx, skin, and respiratory systems, underscore the urgent need for more comprehensive research,” the researchers say. “Given the recent regulation of PFAS in drinking water by the US EPA, our findings highlight the critical importance of developing effective strategies to mitigate cancer risks from exposure to PFAS through drinking water.”
For those of you thinking that buying bottled water over drinking from the tap is any better, THINK AGAIN. Another recent study detected PFAS in 99% of bottled water tested. On top of that, plastic water bottles leach harmful microplastics and other toxic chemicals into the water. Save your money.
We recommend Waterdrop Reverse Osmosis under-sink water filter systems. Waterdrop RO filters are certified, remove PFAS, pesticides, fluoride and other toxins. They save space, are more water efficient than other systems, and the filters last longer. https://www.waterdropfilter.com/?ref=IvyG5577&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_source=goaffpro -- No mater what filtration device you buy, make sure it is certified and actually removes PFAS.
