“AI is going to kill websites.” It won’t. It’s going to expose them.
We’ve heard this funeral speech before. Search engines were going to kill websites. Then social media. Then Google Business Profiles. Every time, the businesses with strong sites pulled further ahead.
A new Forbes Agency Council piece makes the case we’ve been making to clients for a while: AI makes your website more important, not less.
Here’s what’s actually happening
• You’re renting your Google profile, your Yelp page, and whatever ChatGPT says about you. The landlord sets the rules and can change them overnight.
• Your website is the only property you own. It’s the one place you control the full story.
• ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google’s AI Overviews are reading your site right now to decide who you are, what you do, and where you do it. Thin pages get you thin answers, or no answer at all.
• More content isn’t the fix. Content that proves what you’re the expert at is.
The red flag: a 12-page site with a few short service pages.
That used to get you by.
In AI search, it’s a boat anchor.
So run the test. Is your website the most complete, accurate version of your business online? If you can’t say yes in 10 seconds, it isn’t.
We’d rather show you the gap than tell you about it. Get a free score of your website, and we’ll show you exactly where AI is coming up empty.

The website of the future may look different and get built differently, but it will still be the backbone of a business.
