Seeing animals on your roof or hearing scratching, running, or rolling sounds above your ceiling?
Thereโs a good chance raccoons or squirrels may be getting into your attic. ๐ฆ๐ฟ๏ธ
This time of year, wildlife often looks for quiet, protected areas to nest, and attics are one of the most common places they choose.
๐ช๐ต๐ฎ๐ ๐๐ผ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฐ๐ต ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ:
โข Scratching, running, or thumping sounds in the ceiling
โข Animals seen on the roof or near vents
โข Chewed or damaged roof vents, soffits, or gable vents
โข Insulation moved or pulled apart for nesting
โข Droppings or strong odors in the attic
Important: Donโt seal an opening until you confirm what is inside. If pups are present, sealing the entry point too soon can create a bigger problem.
Once inside, raccoons and squirrels can damage insulation, chew openings larger, and create ongoing entry problems if the access points are not properly repaired. Raccoon latrines can also create unsanitary attic conditions that may need proper cleanup.
At ๐ก๐ฎ๐๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐น๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐ฃ๐ฒ๐๐ & ๐ช๐ถ๐น๐ฑ๐น๐ถ๐ณ๐ฒ, we inspect the roofline, identify entry points, remove the wildlife activity, and install exclusion repairs to help keep animals from getting back inside.
If youโre hearing noises in the attic, itโs best to have it inspected before closing up any openings.
