Night Lights...
Every Friday night across America, more than 7,000 high school football games kick off under the lights.
Add in Saturday’s 100+ college games, and you’ve got somewhere between 6 and 10 million people sitting beneath lighting structures that tower over a hundred feet tall — some weighing thousands of pounds.
6-10 million people...
That’s millions of parents, players, coaches, students, and fans trusting that those towering structures above them are sound.
Most of us would never think twice about it really— and maybe that’s the point. The best facilities make it look effortless, but behind every game under those light structures (day or night), there’s meticulous work:
Facility leaders ensure that the welds are solid.
That the anchor bolts aren’t corroded.
They verify that the foundations aren’t weakening beneath decades of weather.
They bring in experts and engineers to ensure poles can safely handle the extra load when LED upgrades are made, and they test the poles' strength after a wind or weather event.
The result for players and fans? A big, beautiful, and brilliantly lit view.
And for those facility leaders across the U.S., responsible for the millions in attendance — confidence and peace of mind knowing that safety wasn’t left to chance.
So this weekend, when you cheer from the bleachers, tailgate outside a stadium, or watch your kid play under those light structures…take a second to look up.
