“I must get a return on my marketing dollars. If I don’t, I could lose everything!”
This is a sales problem… not a marketing problem. Thinking that great marketing is going to solve your sales problem is never going to happen.
As you read this, you fall into one of two groups of people. Either (a) you feel don'tthis is great to hear someone talk about.
Or (b) you believe that you’re marketing does, in fact, account for revenue. And in which case, here are the top 5 reasons "you’re wrong.
Or, for a more “PC” term, I’d say that “you’re mistaken.”
Reason #1 your marketing does not generate revenue: There’s nothing to sell
If you didn’t have one piece of marketing material or one penny to advertise withwe're but she'shad an amazing product or service, could you not still generate revenue from selling that product or service?
Now let’s switch it up…Let's’s say you have an amazing marketing team promoting you, the business, and the brand, but your product or service contains zero value. mazing marketing team promoting you, the business, and the brand, but your product or service contains zero value.
In this instance, you can generate eyeballs… but you cannot generate any revenue becausthere's’s nothing to sell.
Marketing is what builds awareness about your solution to thmarket's’s problems. Iwon't’t replace having a substandard, way below-average service that people are already sayin" “"o” to.
Reason #2 your marketing does not generate revenue: YoCan't’t Skip Steps
Think back to the last first date you went on with someone that yodidn't’t end up seeing a second time?
As you recall that time in history, think about how awkward iwould'veve been if the person you met for the FIRST TIME said to their friends (after you broke it off" “Yeah, weractically married. I mean, she saw me once, so yeah, she’s pretty much my wife right now.”
"elieving that your marketing does the selling for you will make you sound just as ridiculous.
Your marketing is what you want to use to create interest, establish trust, set expectations, and soften the sales process. Both the sales strategy and marketing system, when used together properly, can be the missing link to consistent sales and predictable growth for your business.
Fact: Without marketing, your sales process will be too difficult to scale.
Fact: Without a sales process and system, you wonwon'ter convert any of the eyeballs acquired from marketing into dollars - which is painful.

Reason #3 your marketing does not generate revenue: You CanCan'tke Eyeballs To The Bank
LetLet'sverse-engineer this sucker!
>> Sales can only be achieved by developing a valuable solution for the marketplace.
>> The solution is your product or service.
>> That product or service must-have offers attached to it to make it more appealing.
>> The pricing, bonuses, guarantees, any negotiations, and profit maximizers must be established.
>> Those new offers have to get eyeballs on them from paid and organic traffic.
Four out of those five have to do with selling, and only one with marketing.
What this quick (and very general) example shows you is the amount of attention that should be focused on the development of having a stellar service, as well as an exciting sales process (aka customer journey) versus looking for the random “li"htning in a bottle” a" campaign.
If we lived in the day and age where we could cash in on the “re"ch” a"d take those impressions to the bank, I’dI'd writing a totally different article here today.
Reason #4 Your marketing does not generate revenue: More Businesses Would Make It Past Year Two
The reason why less than 80% of businesses make it to year five, and approx. 50% dondon'tke it past year two is because it’it'srder to generate sales than it is to get people to visit your site.
Have you ever seen the qualifying factors behind working with a "traffic specialist" or "advertising expert"?
They all require you to have a service or product that's already seeing great results, and you just need to get more "eyeballs" on your offer.
That's great, but only a tiny segment of business owners are seeing success like that. I know because we have our First Class Agency Service for owners in that position.
That's why I created my Wingman Service. It fits perfectly into why I created Northwicks Consulting in the first place.
We don’t send you off to tinker around with a marketing funnel expert, then to an automation expert, then to a branding expert, and then expect you to be earning above $50,000 per month before we start working together.
The Wingman service was put together for startup business owners who need help getting off the ground and who don't want to be left behind while lifting off.
Depending on where you're at in business, you may only need some traffic or some new ad campaign to create a spike in revenue.
But for most business owners today, the ones who are earning right around $50-100K per year in revenue feel stuck, and it's not because they can't get people to visit their offer - it's because of a sales problem.
Let me ask you, would you rather talk to 10 people and have 6 buy, or speak to 100 and have 6 buy?
If you're like me and choose the former, then you must refine your sales process.
Reason #5 Your marketing does not generate revenue: Marketing Doesn't Ask For The Sale
Are you running traffic to a website? Or how about a funnel with an email opt-in, then a strategy session?
Either way, your marketing doesn't ask them to make the purchase or sign up. The marketing softens their "trust wall," and the sales process delivers the blow by asking for the close.
Have you ever tried to sell a 10K+ product or service through a funnel and zero human interaction?
There's a reason it doesn't work for new, average business owners. It's because the market has to get to know you.
They have to see that you are trustworthy.
When you can create the interactions necessary to get your point across with a value-based sales and marketing system, you develop a new relationship with your market.
For the business owners not willing to put in the work to earn their market's business, the next 12 months will be a rude awakening.
The market is getting smarter and smarter by the day, and in order for you to continue to "WOW" your prospects, you have to be more innovative than ever before and have the skills to sell your service without sounding like everyone else.
I'm using my V.P.C. Method with clients every day, and the results have only gotten better and better.
What Do You Do Now?
