“I look at peer review of scientific papers much more like a restaurant reviewer, as opposed to a health inspector.”

In this clip from the latest episode of The Human Odyssey, Dr. David Allison responds to Dr. Reginald O’Hara’s question about the biggest problems with the peer review process and why it cannot realistically do what many people expect it to do. Their conversation highlights the limits of peer review, the strain placed on the system, and why strengthening scientific quality requires more than relying on peer review alone.
