At long last, we are proud to unveil the LV-13X Subscale Test Article, the 25% progenitor to the LV-14 "Shrike"!!
Some have asked us "why a model"? Simple. The purpose of a scale test model is to perform a basic validation of a given concept. Under the conventions of a concept called "dynamic scaling", we can get the model to behave in a manner consistent with that of a full scale aircraft, meaning that the results we get from this model will correlate directly into the full sized aircraft! Other great benefits to an unmanned scale model is that it builds confidence in the design, and lowers overall risk.
So now that you all have a solid idea of what the full-scale Shrike prototype will likely look like, let's talk about what comes next. Currently, we are completing main component installation, then we begin installing flight test instrumentation. Once everything checks out, we start flight testing. The question right now is whether we start flying at our current base in Texas, or if we commence the test program at our future base in Southern Maryland. Stay tuned!
This project has been an absolute blast from minute one, and while we are immensely proud to show off our scale creation today, we know we still have alot of work ahead. We are 100% dedicated to engineering, testing and bringing to the market a safe, easy to fly, reliable and cost-effective American flying wing kitplane that will bring you many years of high flying adventure for you, your friends and your family!
Over the next few days, we will release initial specifications & expectations for the full-scale Shrike prototype, as well as additional information on the road ahead for this program.
Let's do this! Have a great weekend!!!!
