When the founders of Texas Tamale Company realized that the tamale vendor was becoming a thing of the past and that no gourmet quality tamale was being sold in the Houston area, they made their first attempt into the t

amale business. With their homemade recipes for "lard-free" tamales and delicious salsas, they launched a street corner business! Over the years, the business has evolved from the familiar tamale cart into the present-day incarnation of Texas Tamale Company! Although our tamales, Homestyle Chili, and Chili Con Queso are now made in a state-of-the-art USDA facility, we pride ourselves on maintaining our "Homemade Gourmet Quality." The New York Times, Texas Monthly Magazine, and the Houston Chronicle have all given rave reviews for our mail-order tamales! Keeping your good health in mind, we make our tamales with pure vegetable shortening instead of lard and the highest quality meat/chicken and cheeses.
