Security / Alarm / Access Control Technician
We are looking for a detail-oriented problem-solver to join our team as a technician with a background for Security & Access control. You will be installing, programming, maintaining and repairing security alarm wiring and installation of alarm and access control equipment, while ensuring work is in accordance with relevant codes for MegaSystems Security.
To ensure success as a technician, you should demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, knowledge of safety codes and regulations, and experience with a variety of systems. Candidates should be self-starters, have a constant drive to figure things out, have a thorough understanding of Alarm & Access Control systems, as well as the installation and troubleshooting process.
Technician Responsibilities:
• Making sure all work complies with relevant codes and regulations.
• Drill holes for wiring in wall studs, joists, ceilings, floors, and other areas as required.
• Examine systems to locate problems such as loose connections or broken insulation.
• Performing inspections and diagnosing any problems.
• Mount and fasten control panels, door and window contacts, sensors, and video cameras.
• Install cabling, mount equipment, install card readers, door contacts, mag locks, electrified strikes and integrated systems.
• Feed cables through access holes, roof spaces, and cavity walls to reach fixture outlets, then position and terminate cables, wires and strapping.
• Install, program, configure, commission, and service CCTV, Access Control, & Intrusion Systems.
• Test backup batteries, keypad programming, sirens, and all security features in order to ensure proper functioning, and to diagnose malfunctions.
• Reading, understanding, and following product manuals.
• Instruct and train customers on functional operation of the equipment/system.
• Writing service and status reports.
• Execute projects on time and within allocated installation hours.
• Work with the project manager to resolve all discrepancies, and coordination problems that impair installation activities.
• Performs a variety of marginal duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed
Technician Requirements:
• A minimum of five years’ experience related to the job duties of this position is required
• Familiar with Access Control programming as well as Security programming
• Reliable transportation
• Must have your own hand tools
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
• Track record of excellent customer service.
• Work independently and well with others.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Must have clear background check.
• A comprehensive knowledge of integrated security systems is required.
• The position requires lifting up to 50 pounds and frequent prolonged periods of standing, bending, pulling, twisting, reaching, climbing and standing.
• Valid driver's license.
