Yesterday, I could have thrown in the towel!
But this lady always reminds me that I AM NOT ALONE! That’s her superpower!
My mom, Stephanie Hickombottom, has stood by my side everyday on this journey with me.
❤️When I had a dream of opening she gave me my first building. We worked that 1300 square over to create the foundation that has sustained us for the last 12 years!
❤️ When we started, we could only take 19 kids. As you can imagine, The first 6 months was rough financially. So contracted with school districts around Texas to fill in the gaps. She stayed and ran this schools in my place when I would get contracts!
❤️ Then we grew, FAST! She evolved and gave me space to grow too! We worked hand and hand to create something bigger than us that could sustain our whole family. Within 9 months we got keys to a 9,000 square foot building and increased to 119 student capacity!
❤️ She imparted this entrepreneurial spirit in me. When I was younger, she owned the first beauty supply in our little town. Then, when I was in high school she owned the local cleaner, that would later be my fist school. She always made her own way!
❤️ She start me out in real estate. 🏡 I can remember her renting a building for her business and the landlord wasn’t very fair. Next thing I know, we were moving into a BIGGER building that she bought! Our First Commercial Property! Last year to honor her we bought the whole block! From end to end!
❤️ She made me a leader early. At 14 I was running the cleaners. I got my 1st car at 14. ( Hey Inlovw in Texas!) I would work everyday after school and I would work during the summer. I did the books and inventory. I even worked with our contracted plant to FIX issues.
It taught me skills that would last forever.
I was customer facing, so I learned to serve people and go the extra mile.
I learned to trust my decision making skills!
❤️She trusted me. She my senior year in high school, I was only 16. I graduated early! I was smart but peculiar. She would allow me to do things far beyond my age to prepare me to navigate the world.
I left home at 17 to go to college, it was then I realized how special my mom really was!
I didn’t realized the love and foundation she gave was so special until I experienced the world 🌍 on a large scale.
❤️ Next year, she turns 70! She took this picture this year at my sisters wedding! God has preserved her and keep her. She is beautiful inside and out!
I am forever grateful for the support, wisdom and loves she gives me so freely.
➡️➡️So this year at the conference, I asked her to give it to everyone. She will be speaking on Friday. I know she will be phenomenal. 🔥
