Reposted from () - Telling my story has been an important part of my growth personally, professionally, online and within my community. Telling others who I am at every stage of my life has been one of my biggest life-lines for real, raw and genuine connections that have helped me take my content to the next level. β€’
β€’
β€’
β€’
My community started in 2008 when I was in communications for the local elections division & quickly grew to a full blown Momma community when I became pregnant in 2009 and then again in 2010 β™₯️ I became a 30 year old Momma of Dos who needed to feel relatable & supported as I navigated through motherhood as a Latina millennial who wanted to keep all of my cultural & traditional background. Who then shared how I suffered from post-partum, anxiety & depression which led to a huge panic attack while my kids were little. β™₯️
β€’
β€’
β€’
β€’
My story has also helped me in more recent years to find a new community of divorced/single parents who have helped me get through yet another stage at a later age when I wasn’t sure how I’d survive. πŸ”₯
β€’
β€’
β€’
Telling my story has been essential in connecting with a community and world I wasn’t sure would understand how I grew up or where I came from. A low-income, Mexican immigrant family who grew up in the Rio Grande Valley & Northside Houston. Statistics were against me; domestic violence, drug abuse, gangs and dropout rates all came with who I was suppose to be. I wasn’t suppose to graduate high school with honors or top 12% of my class, much less be a first generation college grad with scholarships and acceptance letters to colleges in Texas and Michigan. Yet...here I am. β€’
β€’
β€’
β€’
And, now telling my story, can help you tell yours. β™₯️Join me next month at cost is $50. You can DM me for payment info. β€’
β€’
β€’
We will cover the following:
-Seeking & finding your Voice (Story)
-How & when to tell your story -Where to start telling your story & who your audience is
-Taking back your POWER & embracing your new community -How your story can be turned into everyday content β€’

Don’t forget that we have a complete online resource for you that will help you let your baby learn to self-feed with confidence! We teach Baby-led Weaning from a practical, evidence-based perspective utilizing our combined expertise as feeding and nutrition professionals. Head to feedinglittles.com/babies to join the thousands of families worldwide who have taken our infant course. It doesn’t expire and can be watched at your convenience!
β€’
What’s the deal with avocado? Why do parents choose it for babies?
1) For starters, it tastes amazing to most babies! Even if they don’t seem to love it the first time, try offering it in different ways as shown, and try not to get frustrated if they don’t like it just yet! It can take 20-30 exposures of a new food for a child to like it!
2) Avocado is full of so many nutrients, including anti-inflammatory monounsaturated fats, B vitamins, fiber and more potassium than a banana! (975 mg potassium in 1 avocado versus 487 mg in 1 large banana) Babies need lots of fat in their diet for growth and development, and avocado is a great source of this essential nutrient.
3) Avocados are relatively easy to serve, don’t require refrigeration and are soft - making them more comfortable when starting Baby-led Weaning, or infant self-feeding. They’re likely the most common first food, although baby’s first food is totally up to you!
β€’
Why do we suggest serving it like this?
βž•We recommend starting with strips of food that baby {6+ months} can pick up, put in their mouth at the back gums, learn to chew and swallow. No, it’s not a choking hazard to serve whole foods at this age - their gag reflex will take over if they don’t chew the food well enough! If you’re uncomfortable with whole foods, you can always start with smashed avocado. Even though many babies can figure out chewing and swallowing avocado, holding it is another story...that’s why the whole top row offers ways to make avocado less slippery.
