I'll bet you a hundred dollars you don't know what's sitting in your garage.

Look in the corner where you dump everything left over from old projects. That pile you keep stepping over.

A little clean copper. A couple radiators. Two electric motors.

Not that kind of stripping.

Around here it means pulling the jacket off copper wire — and it's one of the fastest ways to raise what you get paid.

Here's why. Wire gets priced on recovery, meaning how much actual copper is inside. An extension cord is maybe 10% copper and 90% plastic. Thick cable can run 80, 90% copper. Same pile, completely different number.

Insulation doesn't pay. Copper does.

So we strip it. Every day. That's a guy back there peeling jacket off cable so the metal underneath gets weighed for what it really is.
