Thoughtful Thursday from Outlaw Insurance

Today was one of those days.

You know the kind where nothing is catastrophic… but somehow everything stacks up at once?

My dog broke my computer screen.
I fell and bruised my knee.
That same dog destroyed my favorite sandals.
Our pool side collapsed.
The second windshield replacement still didn’t fix the issue, so now they have to come out a third time.
And to top it all off? The water flavor packets I love didn’t come with the Walmart order. 😅

Now individually, every one of these things is minor. Honestly, most of them are silly.

But all together?
I could feel myself getting overwhelmed and headed toward a full crash out.

Then I remembered our 5 year rule.

If it won’t matter in 5 years, we try not to let it steal too much of today.

That doesn’t mean things can’t be frustrating. It doesn’t mean you have to pretend everything is sunshine and rainbows. Sometimes you just have to sit there and admit, “Wow, today kinda sucked.”

But it does help put things into perspective.

Five years from now, I won’t care about the sandals.
Or the windshield.
Or the pool.
Or the missing water flavor packets.

What I will care about is whether I let a hard day ruin my attitude, my peace, or the way I treated the people around me.

Sometimes the little things pile up so loudly that they feel big.

But not everything deserves permanent space in our minds.

And sometimes the best thing you can do is laugh a little, regroup, and remind yourself:

"This probably won’t matter in 5 years."

Insurance Tip Tuesday

Water and equipment don’t mix nearly as well as people think they do.

One bad spot, soft ground, flash flooding, or pond edge can turn into a very expensive day very quickly.

A lot of equipment owners assume water damage is automatically covered — but coverage can depend on how the damage happened, the type of policy, and whether the equipment was specifically scheduled correctly.

Recovery costs alone can be brutal before you ever get to repairs.

If you own heavy equipment, it’s worth making sure your coverage actually matches what you’re doing day to day.

And yes… Outlaw writes that too.

Did you know Outlaw Insurance Group writes Texas Farm & Ranch coverage?

From tractors and barns to livestock, equipment, fences, and the place you call home — farm & ranch life comes with risks that don’t always fit into a standard policy.

The good news?
We live it, love it, and understand the lifestyle behind it.

Whether you’ve got a few acres and animals or a full working operation, we can help make sure your coverage actually matches the way you live and work.

Because in Texas… your land is more than property. It’s part of your story. 🌾🐂

Thoughtful Thursday from Outlaw Insurance

I needed to enlist a service and reached out to someone I trust.
They referred me to someone… who referred me to someone else.

And there I was, laying in bed “trying to go to sleep” (whatever that means as an entrepreneur), thinking about how powerful that really is.

The power of a referral.
No matter how big or small.

At Outlaw Insurance Group, our entire book of business has been built on it. No massive ad budgets. No gimmicks. Just people trusting us enough to say, “You need to call them.”

And that’s not something we take lightly.

It got me thinking about another moment this week.

I’ve been working through a pretty nasty claim with a client. The kind that takes time, persistence, and a willingness to push when it would be easier not to. I told him, “I’ve got your back. We’ll run this as far up the chain as we need to.”

His response?

“I know you do, Kaci.”

There’s a lot of weight in those five words.

Because referrals don’t just come from good outcomes.
They come from trust.
From consistency.
From showing up when things aren’t easy or convenient.

They come from doing what you said you’d do—over and over again—until people don’t question it anymore.

That’s the real goal.

Not just to earn business.
But to earn belief.

And when you do that…
People don’t just call you.

And at Outlaw, we always have your back.

Thoughtful Thursday from Outlaw Insurance

There’s a rose bush in my yard that I didn’t really know what to do with.

I don’t know much about roses, but everything I read said the same thing—cut it back. And not just a little… like 70%. So I did.

It felt aggressive. A little wrong, honestly. But I trusted the process and left it up to what I like to call Darwinist gardening… it either makes it or it doesn’t.

And y’all… it made it.

Not only did it make it—it’s popping off. New growth everywhere. Stronger, brighter, healthier than it was before.

But here’s the part that stuck with me…

There are still a few thick, stubborn, dead pieces I couldn’t get out on my own. The kind that require more tools… or more strength… or just someone else.

And that got me thinking—sometimes we’re the same way.

We can do a lot of the work ourselves. We can cut things back, reset, refocus, and push forward. But there are always going to be those deeper, heavier pieces—the ones that are harder to reach or harder to remove.

And it’s okay to not handle those alone.

Sometimes you need your spouse (definitely me on this one), a therapist, a friend, a mentor… someone who can help you with the parts you can’t quite tackle yourself.

Growth doesn’t always come from doing everything on your own.
Sometimes it comes from knowing when to ask for help.

And with Mental Health Awareness Month starting next week, it feels like a good reminder—taking care of yourself isn’t just the small daily things. Sometimes it’s the hard resets. Sometimes it’s asking for help with the heavier pieces.

And sometimes… that’s exactly what you need to bloom again 🌹

Big industry is moving into Texas and other states.

They’re hiring local contractors.

👉 Not everyone will qualify.

We’re already seeing contractors lose jobs… over insurance and bonding.

If your coverage can’t meet contract requirements, you don’t get on the job. Period.

Fix it before the opportunity hits.

🔹 INSURANCE TIP TUESDAY 🔹

Why your insurance feels different right now (and what to do about it):

The process hasn’t changed — but expectations have.

Here’s what we’re seeing across the board:

Carriers asking more questions
Longer turnaround times
Less flexibility on pricing and terms
What you can control:

✔ Clean, organized financials
✔ Clear job descriptions + contracts
✔ Loss history you can explain
✔ Starting renewals EARLY
✔ Working with someone who knows your space

Bottom line:

If your program hasn’t been reviewed in the last 6–12 months,
you’re probably already behind.

If you want a second set of eyes on your program before renewal -
we’re here.
