Back to School = Battery Safety Reminder!

With school back in session, more phones, tablets, laptops, Chromebooks, and other devices are being charged every day. Take a few extra minutes to read how to charge lithium-ion batteries safely:

🔌 Use the charger that came with the device or one approved by the manufacturer.
🔥 Never charge a device under a pillow, blanket, or on a bed where heat can build up.
👀 Keep charging devices where you can see them and avoid charging overnight when possible.
⚠️ If a battery becomes unusually hot, swollen, damaged, or starts to smell strange, unplug it and stop using it.
🏠 Keep charging areas clear of anything that can burn.

A few simple habits can help prevent a battery from becoming a fire hazard. Charge smart. Stay safe. 🔋🔥

A big thank you to Fry Rd M.U.D. for purchasing a new SCBA decontamination washer for our department.
This equipment is a critical step in helping us comply with NFPA 1850 and, more importantly, in reducing firefighter exposure to carcinogens. Clean gear saves live and this investment directly supports our ability to better protect our members from the long-term cancer risks that come with the job.

What an incredible week!

This past week, we proudly completed our 6th Annual Junior Fire Academy, and what a fantastic experience it was. Throughout the week, these future leaders had the opportunity to learn, grow, and experience many firsts while gaining hands-on knowledge from firefighters, EMS personnel, and other emergency service professionals.

Watching these young men and women build confidence, develop new skills, and create lasting friendships is what this camp is all about.

A huge thank you to all of our partners, instructors, and volunteers who dedicated their time and expertise to make this week such a success. We also want to thank the parents for trusting us with your children and allowing them to spend the week with our fire department. Your support makes this program possible.

We are already looking forward to doing it all again next summer!

Save the date: Our 7th Annual Junior Fire Academy will be held July 26-30, 2027. We can't wait to see the next group of future firefighters!
