I am a woman who thrives on structure. Routine is not restriction for me, it is refinement. It gives my life rhythm, creates balance, and allows me to measure both progress and purpose.
During one of my workouts, I reached a moment that many would quietly accept… the urge to quit. My standard is clear: 20 minutes on the StairMaster, starting at level 7 and finishing strong at level 12. Then straight into two continuous sets of 25 reps, arms/shoulders/ triceps, no breaks, no excuses, just movement.
But on this particular day, at the 15-minute mark, I pressed the red button.
I stopped. I moved on to my upper body work, but something didn’t sit right. Because for me, physical discipline is directly tied to business discipline. If I allow myself to cut corners in one area, I’ve given permission for it to show up everywhere, and that is not the standard I live by.
So I went back. I re-mounted the StairMaster and set it to level 12! for five more minutes. No easing back in. No negotiation. Then I added a third full set of 25. That decision changed everything.
It pushed my body beyond comfort and into capacity. It challenged me in a way that produced results I hadn’t seen at 32, 42, or even last year when i turned 52. In that moment, I was reminded, growth doesn’t come from repetition alone, it comes from elevation.
Doing the same thing will maintain you.
Demanding more from yourself will transform you. I realized I was never limited. I had simply been operating within familiar boundaries.
Today, break your pattern, push past your comfort, and go further than you planned.
Because the very thing that feels like resistance… is often the doorway to your next level. Comfort had you contained.
Discipline set you free, and your increase? It’s waiting on your decision to go beyond.
