Hello everyone.I would like to inform you that I have started to counsel individuals, and families again. Much of it will be done online, either by Zoom, or by phone, or in person. (, if you live in Houston. TX.
I am an ordained, minister, and counseled n all the churches that I pastored.
I also was a Licensed Social Worker (Counselor in the state of Michigan, and I am a certified DBT counselor, trained under Marsha Linehan at the University of Washington.
I worked as a clinical case manager for many years in Grand Rapids, MI, and, counseled also in Florida, and Texas. I have suffered from Bipolar 2 disorder, since age thirty I am able to counsel those in grief from the bible, and because My wife Robyn, and I lost our ninteen-year-old daughter Lindsay. "A man’s spirit can endure sickness,
but who can survive a broken spirit?" The Bible.
Have you ever been sick? If you have, normally your spirit (your inner man, mind, heart, and will) can get you through it. But, if your spirit is sick, you cannot handle it. This is what happens in endogenous, or also known as biolgical depression. It can also happen in a severe greif reaction.
I have had clinical depression, and it is a horrible thing. I become mentally weak. Every minute seems like an hour of suffering. In my case, and also in the case of many others; I get up in the early morning, and my depression gets worse, until it peaks at about Noon to 3p.m. I cannot describe to you the deep sorrow, and the horror of depression.
It first started in 1985. At that time, they did not have today's
medications. Oh the years that I had partial relief! Finally,after many years, I found the right mix. But somewhere along the way, a brain tumor developed. I did not know it, but I did know that I had to keep going up on psychotropic medications (antidepressants,,mood stabilizers), until it eventually caused me to be delerious for a number of months. Ater my operation, I was put on three effective medications, which have held for a couple of years. I have not had to go up in dosage.
My wife Robyn and I have written two books about depression, and our treatment. The first was Broken Minds Hope for Healing When You Feel Like You're Losing it, and, "The Pastoral Handbook of Mnetal Illness." They have proved to be a help to many with mental illness, and their loved ones. They are published by Kregel Publications. You can get them both from me.
