Although we celebrate one Thanksgiving. In reality there were several Thanksgivings that occurred prior. Below is a story of an archaeological project that confirms this.

Since Halloween is close upon us, here some information pertaining to witches that most people do not know. This information comes from the Malleus Malificarum (Also known as Hammer of Witches) written in the 1400's and used by the Spanish Inquisition in the pursuit of witches and heretics.

A novice witch will use a broom to fly by sitting upon the broomstick with the bristles pointing towards the back. A more powerful witch will fly by sitting upon a broomstick with the bristles pointing forward. A witch of note, will not use a broom to fly, but will ride upon the severe limb, such as a leg, of a human or animal.

It is important to note that later the writer and the information of the book was discredited.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN and check the skies for those flying witches!

We are in Oklahoma City this week on a CRM project for a client, and received some excellent help from the friendly people at the SHPO and the Oklahoma Archaeological Survey office. Oklahoma has a remarkable number of archaeological sites throughout the state and is home to one of the most famous sites in North America, Spiro Mounds. Spiro Mounds represents the Mississippian culture, which dates to A.D. 800-1450. The site contained a beautiful material culture, including engraved shells and effigy pipes, and displayed evidence of an advanced trading system. Have you had the chance to work on a project in Oklahoma and if so, where did you work?
