Katy is adjusting its solid waste pricing.
At its August 10 meeting, Katy City Council approved a 4.8% increase to residential solid waste and recycling rates, with the new pricing taking effect September 1. The adjustment was tied to the Consumer Price Index.
From our perspective, this is another reminder that waste service costs are influenced by more than just what happens at pickup.
Contract terms, operating expenses, inflation, and broader market conditions can all affect pricing over time.
For businesses, that makes regular waste program reviews even more important. You may not be able to control every rate change, but you can control whether your service levels, pickup frequency, and container needs still make sense for your operations.
Understanding your waste program gives you a better chance to manage costs before inefficiencies become expensive.
