LATE POST: There are moments in life when you know God is confirming your purpose. Three weeks ago, I had a cold and lost my voice. After about 2 weeks when I still didn’t have a voice, I went to the Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Doctor and was diagnosed with Vocal Cord Paralysis. I will have a outpatient procedure next week that will help to repair my vocal cords. How often do we take for granted our voice and the ability to speak? Not having a voice forced me to be self reflective and quiet! I thought to my self, “Ok God you have to do dramatic things at times to get my attention, I hear you.”
With a faint voice and heart of gratitude, I was determined to attend Inaugural Birth Equity Luncheon. This day was for me to use my voice, which I didn’t have...a profound moment!! Along with my Co-Chair Leisa Holland-Nelson, and the amazing steering committee, we have worked tirelessly on this very important initiative and planning a luncheon that our community will support! Although, difficult to speak, I was proud to stand with over 350 guests of supporters as we committed to joining the movement of fighting for all families no matter, who they are, where they live, or what they can afford. This was more than a luncheon, it’s a pathway of hope and ex*****on to address the disparities and improve birth equity! I am proud to serve as Co-Chair of the Birth Equity Initiative and the Inaugural Luncheon. Please join us for this movement...stay tuned for our plans in 2020!
