Hi, I'm WYKESHA aka DR. WY and I'm still figuring it out.
❤️

Whew......the last 8-9 months have been a worldwind. At the heart of it all has been this deeply personal message of GROWTH!

GROWTH as an individual!
Helping others experience GROWTH!
Career GROWTH!
GROWTH in my relationships!
GROWTH through service!!
GROWTH in my personal life.
GROWTH!!

I've found that so many others are also experiencing the essence of this reflective journey. At almost "45" you begin to reconsider what success looks like. What it feels like!! So the good news is, we're human.

I've landed here. We can't stop living. GROWTH is something we crave and need! Most importantly, we deserve it.

I am excited that I get an opportunity to help so many people discover their potential, explore ALL possibilities, and perform exceptionally in their personal and professional lives..

Heeeeeyyyy Leaders,

Just dropping in. I know it's been a minute at least on the IG feeds. I am sure by now you've done the whole New Year reflections and secretly you've questioned if your wildest thoughts could ever come to pass.

How do I know....YOU'RE HUMAN! WE are HUMAN! We've all been there. So somewhere between THINKING IT, BELIEVING IT and MAKING IT HAPPEN lies all of us in some capacity. YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

As I think about the impact I want to continue to make in the leadership develoment space (beyond my full time professional role) I am going to spend the 1st QUARTER of 2024 inspiring, guiding, teaching, coaching and supporting WOMEN through CRITICAL CONFIDENCE Work. We can't execute what we don't believe, we can't lead when we can't follow our own conscious thoughts, we can't expect others to appreciate what we DON'T VALUE within ourselves.

IT'S YOUR SEASON FOR REAL,

PARTNERS, COLLABORATOR AND WELLNESS!!!

I am really INTENTIONAL about setting the INTENTION for coaching sessions and retreat experiences.

I couldn't be more thrilled about the partnership with Mia Bradford of . Mia partnered with us via zoom and reminded the Underrepresented Women of Color Coaltion how easy it is to incorporate wellness and self preservation strategies into your daily routines.

I know how important it is to encourage mindfulness opportunities in my leadership development programs as increased focus on burnout, mental health, and workplace sress are of continued concern.

Thank you again Mia, I cant wait for the next time.

In the Spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. I've reflected today deeply about who he was as a leader. I've asked myself, what is the most powerful and transformational lesson we as leaders can carry with us DAILY on our journey.

PERFECTION!??! No!

Simply put, the choice to DO WHAT IS RIGHT...ALWAYS!

Use your power to influence what is RIGHT by PEOPLE.
Create a vision and a future of possibilities for PEOPLE.
Communicate messages of hope and use empathy ALWAYS.

Do the very best you can and do what is RIGHT first?

Express Shipment went out yesterday for a small business team. (Safety is my top priority 😂😂❤️)

When I wrote this book, my intention was to spark inspiration and help individuals shift their inner dialouge around common leadership characteristics. I wanted to impact, inspire and help influence people in reaching their leadership potential

I remember feeling so deflated and stagnant in my career. There was absolutely no way I was going to experience promotion or business growth replaying my interactions with poor leadership. My mindset was not right.

I had to find my confidence, so I started by focusing on my inner language...my conversations with self. As a result, I created leadership themed self affirmations ( ). Once I mastered that, I focused on practicing language that would affirm others ( ) and finally, I focused on language that would affirm teams ( ). I captured these affirmations and published this collection.

How you speak as a leader matters! Your communication with your self, others and teams matter. Shift your language and then reflect on your leadership practices and characteristics. Use the reflection questions in isolation and in team settings. Start with the work on SELF and Dare to Believe To Lead.

What's your reason why?
What is your confidence rooted in?

My reason is rooted in a true desire to make a big enough difference that the impact lingers well after I've exited the space.

As a coach, I want my clients to speak of the difference our time and work together made in their lives.

As a consultant, I want organizations to feel the shift well after our work period has ended.

As a speaker, I want leaders to be so inspired that the sting of maintaining the same practices and behaviors is simply to much to handle.

As a talent/leader developer I want clients to speak of the confidence and tools we used for decades to come.

But most importantly, I want my leadership legacy to be duplicated. I want coaches to build other leaders. I want those leaders to build other leaders and so forth. I want POTENTIAL to turn into PURPOSE, PRODUCTION AND GROWTH over and over again.

I want the hardwork to be well worth it and I want the evidence of it to linger well beyond my physical existence.

Oh the conversations! Yes, one thing I've learned is that leadership requires a SHIFT. That shift is not automatic and it takes coaching and development to help you fill the gaps.

You can't LEAD in the same way you engage as an individual contributor.

YOU CAN'T!

Three skills that are profoundly important. Think about the leaders that we are most moved by. Leaders that are wildly productive.

They INSPIRE US!
They are STRATEGIC gurus.
They understand the PEOPLE they SERVE.

LEADERSHIP IS NOT about YOU! IT'S about the IMPACT, the INSPIRATION and the INNOVATION.

Nothing like those emergency calls from Executive Women Leaders asking for time to help navigate their leadership spaces. In the past week, I've had several calls from EXECUTIVES experiencing significant weight. The irony in the timing did not escape me either. Though we are celebrating International Women's Month, I am reminded that in order to preserve the wellness of women leaders and sustain our skills sets; the spaces in which we serve must continue to do systemic level work. Are we simply placing Women in the seat or are we:

1) Truly acknowledging our voices and our value?

2.) Providing the professional development and increased exposure we need (not what you think we need) to be successful?

3.) Addressing the unique barriers and challenges we face in order to to truly serve as our authentic self?

Organizations can't continue to miss the extent to which this work must take place. It is not a sprint....in fact, it is a marathon that never ends.

Had a really great conversation about work last night and I offered this reflection "i don't work hard".

I immediately stopped and dug deeper because somehow saying you don't work hard just didn't seem responsible. So I searched for reflection.

It"s not that I don't work hard, I'm just at a place where my work does not feel like work. My passion for people development, self development and organizational development fuels me. I'm great at it and I find joy in the opportunity to do what I love.

Anything tough or challenging is simply making me better. That's a resolve I've confirmed over the past few weeks. As is the work I'm doing with leaders...the journey is about Getting Better.

This morning 35 plus leading leaders are becoming better and none of it feels like work.
