Frontal Lobe has a new artist on display, Krista McCurdy. Krista is a Michigan artist who is inspired by nature, architecture and the often overlooked everyday objects all around us. Her artwork has been exhibited in numerous museums, galleries and private collections. Krista earned her BFA with a concentration in Graphic Design from the University of Michigan-Flint. She has been an Architectural Illustrator, Graphic Artist and Art Museum Docent. After a sojourn into domestic fiber and arts and with the solitude and downtime afforded by covid, she began exploring abstract acrylic painting. This more tactile and physical art style has inspired the collection here on display at Frontal Lobe. In the spirit of abstract expression she lets the energy of motion and the restricted color palette create a moody atmosphere. Stop by and take a look. Krista's work will be on display through December.

This month on display at Frontal Lobe, we are proud to present art work from Linda McVicar. Linda holds a B.S. from Wayne State University in Art Education and vocational certification in Graphic Arts. Linda taught in public schools and then “graduated” to teaching calligraphy and related arts in numerous adult education programs. She has taught for Birmingham Bloomfield Art Association, Center for Creative Studies, Visual Arts Association of Livonia and Michigan Association of Calligraphers. Her studies include workshops with many master calligraphers both in Michigan and at International Calligraphic Arts Conferences. Linda's work has been exhibited in numerous shows and galleries both nationally and internationally including “Alphamark”, a traveling international exhibit; “Visions of the Spirit” at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.; Midland Center for the Arts, Lawrence Street Gallery, Oakland County Galleria, the Livonia Fine Arts Gallery, the Atrium at the Novi Civic Center, and Huron Valley Council for the Arts. You really need to stop by Frontal Lobe and see this beautiful display which will be presented for the next few months.

Good morning to all our followers!

We are excited to display the work of a new artist at Frontal Lobe: Diane Pearson.

After retirement, Diane had two main goals: obtaining a master gardener certification and taking art classes. While watercolors have always appealed to her for their airiness, a pastel workshop revealed their forgiving nature, making them her preferred medium. The intense colors are beautiful when creating florals, landscapes, and Michigan lake scenes. Working with pinks, purples, greens, and blues brings Diane a feeling of calm and peace, which she conveys in her art.
