The Merry Stork

The Merry Stork The Merry Stork is a doula service, attending to mothers in Orange County and the surrounding area. "Birth is not only about making babies.

Birth is about making mothers - strong, competent, capable mothers who trust themselves and know their inner strength".
-Barbara Katz Rothman

Every person who enters parenthood enters with his or her own individual life experiences, goals, and dreams for the future. The mother's relationship with her baby is begun during pregnancy, nestled in the birthing experience, and nurtured at the breast. T

herefore, I believe each mother deserves the opportunity to birth in the manner she desires, whether at home, in a hospital, medicated, or under hypnosis. As The Merry Stork, it is my mission to support, offer encouragement, and empower these amazing women so that they can have a gentle and peaceful birth based on their own needs and desires. "The word "doula" comes from the ancient Greek meaning "a woman who serves" and is now used to refer to a trained and experienced professional who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to the mother before, during, and just after birth or who provides emotional and practical support during the postpartum period. Studies have shown that when doulas attend birth, labors are shorter with fewer complications, babies are healthier, and they breastfeed more easily." ~ DONA international

A study found that the presence of the hormone, adrenomedullin, is crucial for a mom to avoid getting preeclampsia. The hormone, emitted by the developing fetus into the placenta, allows the mother's blood vessels to dilate so that the increased blood flow can reach the fetus.

I don’t want to sound whiney, but Christmas is a tough time for us pregnant woman. We can’t enjoy all that delicious champagne that flows freely, there’s no cold smoked salmon for breakfast or sandwiches scavenged from leftover ham on Boxing Day.

A rainbow is a promise
of sunshine after rain
of calm after storms
of joy after sadness
of peace after pain
of love after loss.

A rainbow baby is a baby born following loss. These mommas are just 6 out of the millions that experience pregnancy/infant loss every day. Some speak out. Some stay silent. Some have lost many. Some try for months or years. Some meet their sleeping angels. All loved and never forgotten.❤️💛💚💙💜

"I photographed this mama's pregnancy a while back and she was telling me how terrified she was of having a c-section. Well last week she went into labor but had to have an emergency c-section after complications. She asked me to come over this morning and shoot this particular image as her worst nightmare proved to be what saved her and her child's lives."

EDIT: I didn't expect this image to reach so far. I understand everyone has their own opinion which they are entitled to, all I ask is that comments are not rude or hurtful and are kept respectful. If it is not to your taste please hide it from your newsfeed.Thank you!!
