For the eighteenth consecutive year, AIM Mail Center has established the Huntington Beach/Costa Mesa Business Community Academic Achievement Award, with the welcome coopoeration of Edison, Huntington Beach, & Estancia High Schools and local businesses.
There is an outstanding group of students that, in many cases, have not received the recognition so due them. These are the students that have a job that demands a considerable amout of time during their school year. This employment, for whatever reason, family of personal needs, keeps them busy, but they are still able to maintain a remarkable scholastic achievement effort. AIM Mail Center has continually sought to recognize the achievement of the many high schooler's who maintain at least a 3.5 GPA and employment of at least 10 hours per week.
The students are selected from the Senior Class of each High School by their teachers and were qualified a maximum of ten per school as planned. Besides the recognition and certificate, presented at an award luncheon at the local country club, a cash award is included, donated by AIM Mail Center and the sponsor that has contributed from the local Business Community.
An attempt is made to match the sponsor to the student's vocational plans as closely as possible.
Over the last 18 years, more than 400 students have been recognized for their achievements in school, work, & in themselves. It is amazing to experience these individuals and become aware of their abilities to deal with real life business decisions, coupled with the acquired academia knowledge.
