3,122 days ago Michael Wallace applied to work at Firefly Team Events. We were a team of 2 cofounders and 1 part time employee (and a merry group of field staff) and he was willing to step up and join the dream. Today is his last day with our dream.
In small business years that is a lifetime. I believe the real world ratio is 1 small biz year for every 5 normal years. That means Michael has been with us for what the rest of the world would feel as 40 years. Damn, that’s a long time. If we add in pandemic multiplier years it’s probably closer to 60 years.
His presence has been felt and his absence will too. He’s served FireFly both in his role as Sales Crusher and in the events industry as a board member of SITE.
Thanking him for making sales is easy. That was his job. We would rather thank him for taking a chance on us. For investing time into us. For sharing his time with us. In westerns they have a phrase, “riding for the brand”. It means that you’re all in with no hesitation and if anyone starts anything you’re first one into the fray. Michael rides for the brand. He never backed down, he never gave up, and we will never doubt he is in our corner.
The sales team he leaves behind can’t wait to try and beat his numbers, ‘cause that is what sales people do, but they're currently trying to find a ladder tall enough.
We will let him tell you where his new adventure is going to be.
