It’s with heavy hearts that we share that Jason Seaver, the creator of Terra Acoustics, passed away in December 2024.

We’ve waited to make any public announcements as we’ve spent the last several months trying to understand and unravel what was happening in the weeks and months leading up to Jason’s death. Out of respect for him, and for those who supported his work, we wanted to take our time and get it right.

Terra was a great idea — a better sound experience for Jeep owners who love music and care about how it feels. Jason made that idea real. He loved audio. He loved gear. And he loved connecting with the people who appreciated both. If you ever talked with him, you know how much he cared about getting it right.

As we begin winding down this page, we’ve received a request from photographer John Cary to remove several images featuring Jason’s work. Out of respect, we’ll be taking those down as he provides direction.

We also want to clarify that Terra Acoustics is not affiliated in any way with Audio Uprising, the company that now owns the TerraAcoustics.com domain. If their speakers look familiar, we understand why. Some designs don’t come out of nowhere.

Thank you to everyone who supported Jason and Terra. You were part of something he genuinely loved doing.

The most common question we get, by far, is “Why don’t you offer a speaker upgrade for the sound bar?”

Well, here’s why:The speakers in the sound bar are obviously already behind us, and given the movement of sound through the cabin and that our ears are tuned to sounds in front us (hence a “front soundstage”), we see little if any reason (which is of course debatable, but after 20 years of designing loudspeakers as well as audio systems of all types we’ve developed a sense for what really works for most people) in spending money on speakers that aren’t effectively improving the actual presence of a soundstage in front of us (think of a band at a concert).

We spent the better part of 18 months dialing in this upgrade, and after extensive modeling and actual prototypes installed in the rear sound bar we just don’t see (or hear) a valid reason to add speakers/spend money on speakers behind you. Sure, you can “hear” some additional sound coming from behind you but your ears/brain can’t process it in such a way that you’ll perceive any improvement in what you’re actually hearing.

We could’ve easily “designed” some rear speakers (hell, the midrange drivers are identical) and sold it as an upgrade but we’re tired of companies always preaching “more, more, more” when it doesn’t truly benefit the customer.

Measure twice, cut once.

Given the movement of sound through the cabin (especially while driving) and that our ears are tuned to sounds in front us, we see little reason (which is, of course, debatable, but after 25 years of designing loudspeakers and audio systems of all types, we’ve developed a sense for what actually works for most people) in spending money on speakers that aren’t effectively improving the sound in front of us (think of where a band is at a concert; in front of you!)

Sure, you can “hear” some additional sound coming from behind you, yet despite extensive modeling and prototypes installed in the rear sound bar it simply doesn’t meaningfully improve the listening experience for the driver.

We’re proud to introduce you to our newest company, .

Behind the scenes, we’ve been quietly working on SpecGate for the last five years. SpecGate is a precision-engineered, truck-specific, modular platform that allows for securing, strategically positioning, and pivoting a series of pursuit-specific mounting plates and accessories. We’ve built a super-talented team that is insanely passionate about trucks, just as we are about audio and building speakers!

Our first release, which is in the days ahead, is for the Gladiator as we’re true Jeep lovers at heart. Additional releases, like 1500, F-150, Tacoma, etc. will come in the months ahead. It’s only natural we soft launch directly into our Terra Acoustics family with early access to our initial manufacturing runs.

What does this mean for Terra Acoustics? A lot! For starters, we’ve increased our manufacturing footprint in Huntley. This gives us much needed space for larger production runs and to build and ship out even more upgrades. Additionally, we’ve brought more of our speaker R&D process in-house to develop additional audio solutions. And finally, with the combined marketing power of SpecGate, we look forward to meeting many of you in person at upcoming Jeep events across the country!
